ranchu floating

we keep ranchus at home and they were usually bought from very small. we managed to rear them from the size of a 50 cents coin to palm size.

don't know for what reasons, some of them will become sick and cannot swim properly (they tend to flow with the current and turn upside down). they will then eventually die after many many months.

can ranchu experts here tell me what happened to my fishes? i feed them twice a day.

sounds like swim bladder disease..maybe you can post some photos so that the fish pple can identify the disease? I did hear that giving green peas is good for swim bladder disease but i'm not sure of how much to give etc.

its swim bladder diesease,eats too much could be 1 of the course. treating takes time n usually unsuccessful. for gf they can have multiple small meals.. Big meals causes this problem usually..

i read from some books that feeding too much could be the cause too but couldnt find anywhere for the treatment. so i usually have to painfully see them turning from bad to worse till death

I regret to say that prevention is the best cure for the bladder infection. After it has occured, there's not much that you can do. How you feed your fish has a lot to do with the condition. Try to soak the pellet food about 10 minutes before feeding. Do not feed too much so that there's left over feed left after 10 minutes of feeding. This should be handle very strictly. GF has problems with their stomach because they do not have a stomach. All the inner organs are laid out inside thus it makes infection a big proble. Also provide food that will help flush the system such as duckweed and feed them regularly. Perfect feeding regiments should include 100% water change every five days, mix feeds such as live feeds, pellet feeds, and vegetable for best results in development. These factors should help to prevent from bladder problems.
