Anyone here feeding their cats RAW diet??

I do not mean fresh mice ok

I mean the RAW diet as advocated by some pet nutritionists. Just wondering if anyone tried it, if there's interest, I can try finding out more info. Involved fresh beef if I'm not wrong. There are of cos many owners who are for and against it, as well as pet nutritionists in opposing camps.

i think its good. i know of some people who do feed raw. and their cats do well on it. i've just read " the holistic animal handbook" by kate solisti-mattelon and patrice mattelon. it has an indepth explanation of what is actually in pet foods and the benefits of feeding raw. its a really good book

just started raw beef for ariel, and she;s slowly getting into it... hoped to increase the feeding portion more slowly. But of course canned wet and dry food is still her main staple food..

Since we are on the topic BARF, is it possible to mix the raw meat together with the kibbles for them as one of the meals? I also do understand that if we start our pets on BARF there is a detox session during the first few weeks where they will have diarrhoea and that is solely because of the cleansing of the impurities within the body before the animal actually starts getting used to it? Is that true? Does anyone care to clarify?

raw meat

I personally feed all my cats at night with wet food this consists of 2kgs of fresh diced beef and mixed into the food I also put 2 tins of whiskers canned food each night they get a different one. For the breakfast I give them whiskers singles and they always have fresh water and Royal Cannion dry biscuits for my nursing moms I add extra vitamins to the food, and the young kittens get kitten milk.

I use to feed my kitties with a steamed of mix of fish, minced chicken, minced beef and sometimes liver. With this we can start feeding kitties earlier as when they start licking their mom's kibbles they are actually ready for very soft solid food. I change the composition regularly to avoid my kitties become finicky eaters. When their chewing techniques get better I started to feed them raw beef and kibbles (not mixed as raw meat must be finished ASAP) and sometimes the steamed mixture.

My Zissura Prince Adonis had blocked urinary track about two years a go and a cyber friend of mince suggested me to feed him raw meet everyday. He has never had any problem with his urinary tract since then. Raw meat keeps the urine Ph balance although yes, you can't feed your cats only raw meat as they're built to eat different kind of meat and when wild cats eat their preys they will also eat the "half digested" of their preys diet.
