i need ADVICE,please

a friend of mine has this problem, and i just realized that im in the same boat, here's the situation
he has 4 females of 4 defferent breeds and types, all are almost the same age,he just got himself a male to breed to ONLY one of these females, then realized or remembered that the other three females are going to be in heat in some time as well, like his fourth female that he wants to breed
now all dogs live in the same house, what is he to do when any of the females go on heat?how to prevent the male from getting stressed?if to take the male out of the house, this could mean that the male would be out most of the year, and he cant do that
how far the heated female should be kept away from the males kennel,in order to prevent stress?is there anything to be done to help the male ?any advice is deeply apreciated
thnx

Wow, like that it sounds like you're gonna have to keep the male quite far away to prevent the hormones from reaching him. It's a bit impossible cos the hormones can travel very far in the air via their pee. I watched it on tv. The show didn't say how far away, just that if a female dog in a neighbourhood is in heat, most of the dogs in the same neighbourhood know. Doesn't matter if you keep her locked up. Unless you keep her in an airtight container or something (just kidding).

I dunno how to treat stress due to hormones, but I know that they are selling stress-relieving, all-natural, aromatherapy plus chemical type vials in pet shops now. All the ingredients in the bottle are natural and there are different types of "treatment". Some to "calm", some to induce sleep, some to "relieve stress". You feed it to the dog, not let it smell. One brand is Richard's Organics. There are other brands. I dunno if this will help, but you can consider it.

Can you give him a soft toy or something he can hump to satisfy the urge to procreate, it would be a safe outlet for him without the hormones driving him nuts.

Note : This thread will be move to Q & A

Anyway, to answer your question as follow:-

just keep the male at bay - lock up in a cage with the female of the same breed lor.

keeping at bay is not difficult but if you know any of the female on heat please do keep out of reach for him lor. He will whin most of the time and is difficult to clam down.
