Just a thought!

Ok! I am not a pro in this area but i do believe that cats are real choosy when it come to their diets. I came to know abt it becos of my mum cos she is feeding strays and guess what 1 like it raw, 1 like it cook, 1 like to eat kibble, 1 like to eat kampong fish, 1 like sela and chicken wing.

tough work!! but she enjoy

yup... I heard some of my friends who have cats said that cats are rather choosy when it comes to food... but do u think feeding cats vegetables are more healthier?

Errr...cats need meat

I read somewhere...that cats cannot be vegetarian as they need meat in their diet to maintain proper health. However you can add vegetables to supplement their usual cat food if you wish. In the wild, when a feral cat eats a mice, he also ends up eating the mice's diet which is made up of vegetable/fibre. Do consult your vet if you insist on pursuing a vegetarian diet as well as do more research in the internet. However I am very certain that cats will not do well on a purely vegetarian diet

Yes, I agree. I read up abt it as well, when my bf asked me the same question. He was only pondering it, cos he saw the vege diets available for dogs now, in the pet shop.

To most cat breeders on the net, the answer is no cos cats require a higher protein diet than dogs, and are almost entirely pure carnivorous. I dunno if it has to do with digesting animal and vege protein, but cats do not fare well on a vege diet. They will almost certainly lack some type of nutrient unless the person preparing the diet is very careful and conscientious. And for ppl who attempt such a diet on their cat, they need to add many types of supplements into the food they prepare, just to reach the same nutrition components of a meat diet.

i dont think going vegetarian is a good idea. cats are obligate carnivores and need meat protein. this cannot be substituted with vegetable protein. furthermore, the cat's digestive tract is a short one n is not designed to digest a lot of fibrous content from veggies. introducing a bit of veg into a homemade diet is good but dont go over board. there is a strictly vegetarian kibble which i think u can buy online. however even that site cautions that u are to use it as a supplementary diet alongside regular cat food or whatever meat it is ur feeding.
