Mr. Yasuyuki Mita of Aichi, Japan

It has been a while since I have introduced a new thread on our Japanese colleagues from Japan. Today I would like to share with you some pictures from Mr.Mita's home in Aichi. I will show you some pictures of his home, his fish and his skills and equipments in his breeding schemes. I hope that you will enjoy the pictures and stories of one of the brightest star of the Japanese ranchu circle today. Mr. Mita is the present Nisai Champion of the All Japan Ranchu Show 2004. The year 2004 is his best year ever in ranchu competition thus far.

The first few pictures are of Mr.Mita's home in Aichi, Japan. The pictures were taken towards the end of Winter two years ago and during Mr.Mita's breeding season at the time. The third picture is of the green house that house Mr.Mita's TVR ponds. And the last picture of this set is Mr.Mita cleaning his pond.

Mr.Mita from Aichi, Japan

Now let's turn our attention to the equipments that Mr.Mita uses in his breeding. You will see that he use a piece of white cloth and a shreded ropes tied together and attached to a metal framing and install directly into the ponds and then put the breeding pairs on top of the contraption. The cloth and shreded tied-up-rope will catch all the eggs that were produced from the fish and the netting will make it much easier to take all the eggs out of the breeding ponds. If you read up on my breeding article, you may have already presumed that this is the natural spawning technique. Many people believe that the natural spawning is the sure way of producing really strong BBRs. However, this form of breeding will produce less offsprings than the hand spawn technique.

The last two pictures are of the tub that Mr.Mita use to leave the eggs for hatching. In the tub you will see that the temperature is strictly controlled.
