Help Control Cats Population.. Please.

i somehow agree,cats,kittins,and rabbits are getting more abandoned than ever

yeah... most of them either become nuisances or food for stray dogs.

Umm, I don't think it's shooting la. More like, if you only breed to improve the breed of the cat, it's ok. But not for fun lor.

My own 2 cats are sterilized. I think it makes life easier. Keke. Less hormones to deal with.

My stand here is that those who wish to breed their pets - keep to the pedigree ones, especially for cats, as strays are abundant and adoption is free so don't add to the problem.

If you have a pure breed cat and wish to breed, choose to breed it to another of same breed, persian to persian... not persian to ragdoll.

I am not against breeding and no one here should try to criticize anyone for breeding as well. I would like to keep this section here a friendly non-bitchy non-shooting section, and I will not hesitate to edit bitchy/ shooting remarks out immediately.

I agree with Clover that when breeding it would be ideal to improve the breed.

However, those who wish to breed - please know certain facts - there is always a risk that your Queen (cat) will face complications during pregnancy, birth or after birth. Are you ready to take that risk, and also the financial responsibilities that comes with it. Not all cats have natural birth, some requires caesarian section... so money making might turn into otherwise - a rescue mission instead. Persians and American Shorthairs as well as cats with larger heads tend to require caesarian.

If you understand these risks and then by all means go for it. However, make sure you have extra time to spend with your pregnant kitty, when she is about to give birth so that you are at hand to assist if necessary. If she rejects kittens, you have to take up nursing...

So if you are having second thoughts after all these, then maybe you want to rethink? If not, then hope to see some cute kitten pics here in future!

i am a pet lover and have nothing against responsible breeders. The word is RESPONSIBLE . Before there are pet owners or breeders, we must all be animal lovers right. If you respect an animal as an equal living being then you must accord the animal with the same treatment you do to other humans or better still a friend.

With respectable dog breeders, they are always ensuring that the best traits and behaviour will be pass on to the next generation. I'm not always agreeable to this as i feel for some breeds the gene pool is too small and genetic defects are always pass on. Not enough research has been done by some breeders to improve this and the pairing of one pedigree to another does not solve the problem at all, sometimes worsening it as both dog and b*tch carries the same defective gene. Culling i believe is a norm for breeders as i feel you should not be selling a sick animal or one that has dormant symptoms to unsuspecting public.

What irritates us pet lovers the most i think are people who run mills, animal mills. That's right, stop calling yourself breeders because you put real breeders to shame. You are only doing it for the quick buck and often have policies such as "goods sold are non refundable" or "who and who should not be liable in the event that the animal falls sick or die within a time frame". If you want to join any pet forum and expect not to be "shot" then you indeed live in a fantasy world.

Hope i don't come off as too harsh but i just want to see more healthy animals considering how vet bills don't come cheap nowadays.
