Chinchilla

Hi to all,

I would like to get a chinchilla but am very new.
Is there any reputable shops I can view?

Should I get in a pair or can it be alone?

How much would a violet mosiac cost?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I keep chinchillas too, there are many chin hobbist here, who can help u if u have any queries..

Keeping in pair intially will be abit tough if u are new, so maybe u consider keeping 1 1st.. or 1 in each cage..

Shops there are pet depot in Upp Serangoon, or pets republic in Telok Kurau..
Alternatively, there are hobbists who sell at times here..

What is a violet mosiac u are refering to?

Hi PS15, thanks for the prompt answer,

My sincere apologies,
What I wanted is Silver Mosaic/White Mosaic or White Violet.

Maybe I can breed a violet mosaic in the future. Just joking.

Care to enlighten me on the various costs of keeping the cute little lives? Eg, price of the chins, food, housing etc.

Thanks!

Hi Amaterasu,

a silver mosaic is very differnt from a white violet in terms of price and 'rareness', so to speak - there are probably less than 5 white violets in singapore, but many mosaics. A white violet and a mosaic violet are approximately the same thing, just different names.

Also, a single sex pair is a good idea because chinchillas tend to be sociable so unless you can afford to spend lots of time with your chinchilla, having a companion will be good to have. caring for 2 chinchillas will not be a lot more extra work than caring for one either There was once when my violet girl completely stopped eating after i put her alone for a week, put her back in with her daughter and she was completely ok. but you shouldnt rush into it, maybe familiarize yourself with one first, before deciding on the second.

I have both a very cute white violet and mosaics for sales, you can check them out at www.petsrpeublic.com.sg by clicking on the chinchillas link. We also offer starter packages that includes everything you will need when you start on your chinchilla-keeping hobby: for a simple package, you are looking at around $120 including the cage, food, dust bath, bath house, etc. Maintainence wise is less than $20 per month, if you don't buy extras.

You can also check out our Members page for the packages and lfetime membership perks we are offering too. you might also find the FAQs page useful.

Feel free to call if you need anything.

Hi Ritzy,

Thank you for your time for detail explanation.

I'll discuss with my girlfriend and get back to you if everything is ok.

Thanks

My Pink White violet carrier female is due on New Year day, hopefully she can give birth to white violet or pink white violet or beige violet this time. The last time she gave birth was in Jul to a violet and a standard violet carrier. Her weight was 930g last evening.

My Pink White vc gave birth to 3 bbs, 1 beige violet, 1 violet & 1 light tan (possible a light tan violet)

Nice colours! Am guessing that the dad is a violet wrap? or a ebony vc?
