Any idea where to get a nice cat?
My classmate is looking for a kitten as a pet. We are wondering where is a good place to buy. The most ideal is a persian.

There are quite a few shops selling persian right now. Just check The Straits Times Classifieds on Sunday, #74. The alternative is to adopt one, but it may not be a kitten. Some of the cat societies do get purebred persians occasionally.
I think there are a few persian breeders, but I can't exactly remember who they are. The cat breeders don't really advertise vigorously. ![]() Just a gentle reminder, persians need regular grooming. Their coat, a point of pride, requires care. ![]() |

Thanx Clover.
We went to Pets Tales and saw several cats there. Not cheap but can see the quality is very good. Still considering which one to pick up. ![]() |

Persians
Persians are really adorable, do remember though that they would require grooming daily and those with eye stains would need to be cleansed daily as well. Shedding is a concern so be aware of these before you get a persian. I understand Pet Tales have some white exotic shorthair kittens as well, they are like Persians but with short coat, a good choice if daily grooming is a chore for you. All cats other than the rexes and the sphinx/peter bald shed, so be prepared for that regardless of coat length.
I have a persian at home, and at times I am literally spitting fur. She's the sweetest thing though and I race home from work daily to see her and groom her. Grooming is a pleasure for us both, and I do it as often as I can everyday.Pet Tales have lovely persian kittens ![]() |

The Cat Welfare Society
We did not such a society till we saw "friends of Petsfanatics". We likely to go there and adopt one.
Thankx for all the information given to us. ![]() |

Yup. Don't buy cats, get them at cat welfare or spca or even the streets around your housing estate. A neighbour of my found not one but TWO beautiful persian cross cats! Despite attempts to find the owner, no body turn up!
As for me I found a persian cross kitten at my back door meowing his head off and who is now almost 2 years old. I didn't know he was a "HE" because of all his fur until he mounted one of my female cats! Luckily she was already sterilised. I thing good about him is that his fur is not so long, though its very soft, that I don't even need to comb him and no tangles at all! He actually looks more like a racoon. ![]() |

buying Cats?
I would suggest adopting rather than buying. If you are just starting to take care of a cat would be best to start off with a short hair but if you like persian and know the time and commitment to take care of them then by all means. Just some friendly advice. You should get yr cats from breeders which can provide you with great details on yr cat detailed background etc. n documentation etc. Good luck! and Happy Loving yr cat : )
