Normally to pair trios, I will pair 2 of the chins first. Once successful, then pair each of the chins with the third. Finally keep all three together.

During the pairing process, if the more dorminant chin bullies the other chin, I will keep it in a smaller cage and then put this cage into the larger cage, this is a form of punishment.

The most that i haved paired together is 4 males in one cage. I did this by placing my 1st pair(father and son) next to my second pair(brothers) for one month. After that, i put them altogether in a new cage.

Lucky for me, they did not fight and got along really well. However, about a month later, all hell broke loose and 3 of the males ganged up on one of them...(i think it was due to one of the females going on heat.)

Anyway, the poor thing had a huge wound on his back and i thought i was going to loose him. Did not even bring him to a vet as i thought he would die during the drive there and instead, just sprayed on some wound disinfectant that i had brought in from the US for my rabbits. I did think he would not survive through the night but he did and i dilligently continued with the spray till the wound closed. Fortunately, he recovered very quickly and is now successfully paired with a gal.

As for the other 3, they could not get along after the fight and i sepearated all of them. Now, i no longer dare to take the risk and have only paired duos - did it recently to reduce cage space...

None of the chins that i mentioned above was below 6 months of age. Since you will be pairing your 3 year old chins with the soon to be weaned baby, i think you have a much better chance of success.

What i would do would be to pair the 2 adults together first and than test their reaction to the baby. If they get along with him and do not try to attack him, i would place all of them into a neutral cage and see how they behave over a 1 day period. If i feel that they are totally okay, i can start whooping and go about doing whatever i need to do - this is my rush method.

If i'm not in the rush, i would pair the adults first and than introduce them individually to the baby. Once they can all get along, i would put them in a neutral cage.

What i wrote is just my opinion. Other people might not agree as there are lots of pairing methods like the snoosh method etc. Personally i tried it but felt that i was better off not doing it...lolz

Thks guys.....appreciate all the advice. I am also trying to reduce my no of cages but priority is cos since my work requires lots of commitments, i think it would be best that i stop breeding my chins. Keeping them in pairs of the same sex might just be the best solution
