Pregnant female showing signs of oestrus?

Dear all,

I would like to know if any of you have had similar experience.

Abouth a month ago a friend of mine, a beginner breeder called me to ask why her pregnant female shown signs of oestrus. I told her that a pregnant female will not show any sign of oestrus, so it could be false pregnancy. But the cat did give birth to a litter of two healthy kittens two weeks after showing the signs of oestrus!

Just now I am having the same problem; if it could be considered as a problem. My pregnant female expected to due on 5th of June has been showing signs of oestrus the last 3 days.

I was very much concerned for all my other females always maintain their appetite very well until the end of their pregnancies. While this female I am talking about refused to eat anything when she was having her last oestrus right before I mated her with my male. Thankfully she is still eating, although not as much as before showing signs of oestrus in the middle of pregnancy.

I have two breeders of different breeds (one works with munckins and the other works with abbysinians) sent me e-mails telling that their females do this very often. One of them even wrote that her pregnant females show signs of oestrus more often that not.

Regards,
Yukie

Yupe...all of them, at least nearly all of them. She ate less, very much histeric and would try to escape to find a male whenever she had a chance, she took mating position whenever stroked. Even my male seemed to be pretty much annoyed that I didn't let him approach her!

The only difference was she did still ate her food although less then she did before showing signs of oestrus in the middle of pregnancy.

Another problem is that I will have to go to Balikpapan (Borneo Island) to supervise one of our show there by 3rd of June....so I might not be arround her when she's due, a friend will watch over her and I will have other friends stand by if we need their assistance. Just hope that she will wait til I get back home by 5th of June.
