Parrots trend to mess up the water container with food and contaminate the water. Water bottle is a good method to prevent them from doing so. This is an effective method I picked up from our adviser Jimmy Lim.

Ohhh, nice cages. Wish I could find stainless steel cages.... but here I can only get the coated ones which are big enough. Even stainless steel dog cages here rare.

Huh, can use bottle? I think if I were to put the bottle for my birds, they might go thristy the whole day.... but good info, might try this bottle method with future parrots.

Silvanus,

Very nice photo... mind to share how you 'train' your bird to drink from the bottle? It is the same one that we use for dog and cats right?

It is a very interesting and technic... I will try to train mine also

My uncle's grey is also on a water bottle. It uses a water buddy as its more durable.

My uncle kinda showed the grey how to use it first by placing his finger where the nozzle is and releasing some water so that the bird knows where the water come from. You need to leave the water bowl there though till you are confident that your bird knows how to use the bottle. You can also try adding some sort of flavouring to the nozzle so that the bird is tempted toward it. I do this for my imported rabbits too when they first come in as they are not trained on bottles but on water bowls.

HI chinsandhollandlops,

Thanks for you advice. I have try this to my eclectus, but seem like it is not work. The bird know how to use it... the problem is that they take it as a new toys for them and will rush to 'take the water' out from the bottle... they can 'finish' the whole bottle within 1 hour only
