The Second All Thailand Ranchu Show in December 2005 [The Crown Princess Cup]

On behalf of the Ranchu Appreciation Club 2547 (Bangkok, Thailand) and the All Thailand Ranchu Competition Committee, I am very please to announce that the organization and scheduling of the Second All Thailand Ranchu Show 2005 has been finalized. At this early junction, I would like to briefly touch on all the aspects of this special open championship ranchu competition in Thailand. This competition will be organized during the Agricultural Festival during 2 - 12 December 2005 (final show date will be announced shortly) at the Suanluang Rama IX Park and will be open for all Thais and foreigners to participate, and no membership is required. The cost of participating in the Show will be 300 baht (about $12 SG) per ranchu. All procedes from this event will be donate to the Suanluang Rama IX Charity Foundation under the Royal Patronage without deducting any of the expenses whatsoever.

With the kind cooperation and assistance of Mr. Vithoon Thienrungsri, the President of the White Crane (V.88) Aqua-Tech Co., Ltd. (www.whitecranev88.com), this year the All Thailand Ranchu Competition Committee has been successful in securing one of the most auspicious cup being the H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup (or the Crown Princess Cup) for the Grand Champion Title (or Best in Show) for the Second All Thailand Ranchu Show 2005 (2nd ATRS 2005). [The Crown Princess Cup will be presented at the last weekend of the Festival during an Official Dinner Presentation by the Privy Counsel of the Royal Family. The Grand Champion and the other selected winners are required to wear proper attire or a national costume preferable suit and tie for gentlemen or a proper white or militiary uniform for the presentation of the Cup.]

The distinguish panel of Japanese Judges for the Second ATRS 2005 includes:
1. Mr. Masahaki Kashino, Okayama, Japan 46 years old.
2. Mr. Yasusaru Oishi, Kanakawa, Japan, President of the Ashigara Ranchu Kai, 53 years old.
3. Mr. Shiji Ijima, Osaka, Japan 45 Years old.
4. Mr. Yasuyuki Mita, Aichi, Japan - (Yet to confirm.)

There will be altogether 4 Classifications for the Second All Thailand Ranchu Competition 2005 namely:

1. Junior Class (Aoko) - approximately no more than 11 cms

2. Tosai Class (1 Year Old) - approximately no more than 13.5 cms

3. Nisai Class (2 Year Old) - approximately no more than 16 cms

4. Oya Class (3 Year Old and over) - over 16 cms

The sizes are all approximate and the final judgement will be rendered by the Fish Receiving Judges for the assignment of classification for all ranchu. (Some assigned fish may be a little bigger or smaller than the approximate size for each of the classifications, but the judges decisions are final.)

There will be all together 11 trophies and certificates for each of the classification. There will be one Best In Show or Grand Champion Trophy being the H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup. There will also be ample of other prizes for all the other winners as well.

All ranchu will be accepted until 10.30 Am strictly. Fish that arrive later than the dateline will be turned away. The ATRS Committee has planed many interesting activities for the whole family to participate all through out the day. There will be many booths selling all sorts of ranchu not to be missed and general aquatic products in general (the many other lovely plants available at the Festival). There will also be many auctions of nice ranchu for all concern to bid on. The auction ranchus will be various specimen donated from each of the judges from Japan, and from the various famous breeders in Thailand and of course from the Absolute Fisheries, as well. There should be quite a lot of exceptional quality ranchu for all to bid on for future competition. From my recollection of the last auction during the 1st ATRS, the quality of the auction pieces were quite magnificent and there were many, many people bidding on these nice TVRs.

We are aiming to finish all the judment by early afternoon so that we will have time to answer questions from all the participants concerning the competition, and also to conduct a ranchu clinic for all the participants, as well. We will have many translators available to help answer all your questions that you may have under the sun about your ranchu. This is the golden opportunity for you ranchu enthusiasts to converse with real Masters from Japan on a one-on-one basis. You will also have more time to look over all the nice ranchu that will show up for the Competition.

We would like to extend the warmest invitation to any of you who may be interested in participating in this event. There will be quite a lot to do at the Festival beside the Ranchu Competition as well. Not only will you be able to participate in the biggest ranchu show in SE Asia but you will also be doing a good deed to help out our local Charity for the less fortunate. A win/win situation for every one. We are expecting no less than 400 ranchu at the Show. It is one ranchu event, not to be missed.

Long Live His Majesty the King, and the Royal Family.

Yes, I am the first labor in line. We really do not have titles for all the people working for the competitions. Most of the people are all volunteers from the ranchu community in Thailand. They are all dedicating their personal time and resources to assist in the preparation of this important event for the ranchu community at large. I hope that we will be able to attract enthusiasts from all over to participate. We are also in the process of contacting Mr.Mori of the Pisces Publication from Japan to come and cover the event, as well. Hopefully you and a few other will be able to make the trip. If not, I am available as your trusted reporter to bring all the nice pictures and news for all members here.

Suanluan Rama 9 - Venue of the 2nd ATRS 2005 - Background and Direction

I would like to introduce the venue of the 2nd ATRS 2005 a little bit and will include directions maps, and a few pictures to explain the venue for every one who are considering coming to see the Show. All materials here are borrowed from the Suanlulang Rama IX website. I will also provide a real time map to show the directions in the next thread.

The concept of the Suanluang Rama IX public park originated as one of the many social and public offerings to celebrate the 60th Birthday of His Majesty the King, in 1987. It is intended to be a lasting testimony of loyalty and respect by the Thai people for their revered Monarch.

Suan Luang Rama IX Public Park covers an area of 500 rai (200 Acres) in the sub-suburban Nongbon district of the Southern Prakhanong district, near Samut Prakarn, southeast of Bangkok. In addition to being a gesture of homage to His Majesty the King, the gardens have several specific objectives. The park was created to enhance the quanlity of the public. It also establishes the first comprehensive botanical garden in Thailand, providing a relaxing environment for social, sporting and cultural activities.

Suan Luang Rama IX Park was create under the guidance of Thanpuying Maniratana Bunnag and Lt. Commander Kamton Sinthavanond, working in close cooperation with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
The park includes six distinct areas, each having its own specific theme, and seven international miniature gardens creates in cooperation with experts from each country.

Designed in accordance with ecological principles, this is the first comprehensive botanical garden to be established in Thailand. It covers an area of 150 rai (60 Acres) and is separated into many sections, each of which is surrounded by water for the purpose of irrigation. This serves as a pleasant venue in which to relax as well as providing research opportunities to study the many species of plants

The area where the venue for the 2nd ATRS 2005 will be the area around the Botanical Garden. The Botanical Garden has a big round dome which is a good land mark to notice. Around the Botanical Garden, there are to be found interspersed within the grounds of Suan Luang Rama IX Park International gardens emanating from seven nations, namely. The Chinese and the Japanese Garden which are evocative of the Orient. Various gardens in the styles of several European countries which typify the Western World. The American Garden which symbolizes the New World, The French Garden and the English Garden. These multi-national gardens, created in honour of His Majesty the King and in the styles typical of those seven countries, can provide a wonderful history and development of landscape gardening in the respective countries.

I hope that this will give a good overview of the venue for the 2nd All Thailand Ranchu Show 2005 - The Crown Princess Cup. The next thread I will cover directions and how to get there.
