Vegetable for Ranchu?

Thanks guys for your advice will start off as supplement first.

AbsoluteRanchu, hope you don't mind but i've a no of questions on Mr Kashino's duckweed: can you pls let me know at what size of the Ranchu does Mr Kashino start feeding his Ranchu with duckweed pls? (bbr, after bbr has changed colour, or when it has reached a certain size?) Does he feed them continuously as they age to oya and beyond? Are all of Mr Kashino's tosai to oya Ranchu fed duckweed once a day? Have you seen the duckweed found in Singapore and is it identical with Japanese duckweed pls? What is the purpose of feeding Ranchu with the Japanese duckweed?

ps from the photos above it seems like either the Japanese duckweed is much finer than the Singapore duckweed, or the Japanese duckweed is pounded into fine substance before using it as a feed?

There are many types of duckweed, even in Thailand. We have both the smaller kind called Phum, and we do have a bigger kind that has much bigger leaves, as well. The bigger leaves duckweed also have reallly long roots as well. The smaller kind (looks and feels like small hard pellet of plant material) can be fed from blackbaby all the way to Oya, while the bigger type will be suitable for larger fish only. You can give vegetables to your fish from bigger black baby all the way to fish over 20 cms long.

You can float the vegetable all day long if you like, and if you have enough supply. It is so good for the digestive system, colours and for the scale condition. Think of it as a person having salad, you can have it all your life without doing anything bad to the fish.

You could probably find similar kinds in SG because I know of many hobbyists who have already started feeding their TVRs. It does not have to be exactly the same kind as those grown in Japan. The smaller type of duckweed that Mr.Kashino has is exactly the same as the duckweed we have in Thailand, once again called "Phum".
