Hello, I raise Jersey Woolies although I live in the US
I hardly ever groom my Woolies. I just fluff them up before a show as previously mentioned. They've been bred to have "easy care" wool that is non-matting. The juniors have a more cottony texture and they need to be brushed maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks. They are not high maintanence at all, really. People see WOOL and instantly picture hours of brushing but that's not it at all.

As for size, they are bigger than Netherlands, but not Holland Lops. The maximum weight is 3.5 lbs. Most of mine weigh about 2.5 - 3 lbs.

I have a friend that sends shipments of Woolies and other breeds to Thailand and Japan. I'm sure if there was enough interest she would send a shipment to Singapore.

That's interesting. Unfortunately i don't have a special interest in them While i do read up more on breeds like the english angora, Nds, Hls, Fuzzies and lionheads, i tend to read less about the other breeds due to my lack of interest in them..the last time i read up about wollies was a few years ago...think i'm outdated..lolz.

I do bring in my rabbits from overseas but i doubt i will bring in woolies in the near future as i already have a "aim"...haha

Which breeder are you referring to? I would like to have the link for reference in case i do decide to go into woolies.

Thanks for bringing much needed advice into this forum about jersey woolies. Personally, i had a misconception about woolies' fur being hard to upkeep myself when I saw some of them in petshops a few years back.

*Cheers*

Oh, Woolies are great! They were bred specifically to have gentle and kind personalities. The does are wonderful mothers too, I've never had a problem with my does not wanting to raise a litter. I put some Wooly pics in my "gallery" if anyone wants to have a look. There's also some on my website, of course.
The person that does the shipments are Christina of The Rabbit Hill ( http://www.therabbithill.com/ ). She raises Hollands, but collects Woolies from breeders all over California (including myself) to ship overseas. I, personally, have had my Woolies go to Japan and Thailand. Woolies seem to have a large market over there as she is constantly making shipments and we can barely keep up with rabbits to send over there!

Oh, Ya, I have heard of her. But think we would never have the same type of demand here. Cos if i am not wrong, Christina ships in the hundreds right?

I love your website! Its really well done! I am so in love with BEWs esp, I raise BEW netherlands so we have something in common! Haha

Some questions on quarantine

Dear all,

I live in Indonesia but somehow I can't find any rabbit breeder with importing experience to ask about the quarantine. Cats and dogs will have to be quarantined if imported from non rabies free country (yuks...what a politics!), and I don't like it mostly because I don't think they will take care of the animal properly.

So...can anyone tell me will they quarantine rabbits here, in Indonesia?

yukie
