switch to abady ....its a much better choice of dog food ...go for the granular formular but not a lot of places sell them and its quite costly ...30+ for a small pack and the large one at 90+

Yes when you switch to abady granular you can basically stop the rice + chicken and other dog food because abady is simple the best food you can find in the market

hi again..i've notice my girl had been sleeping alot lately...usually would play around after dinner..but now..will sleep after dinner and sleeps alot during the day also..and her nipples are hardening..her vulva wasn't as swollen as when she's having her heat..but not her normal size before her heat either i'm not sure how long her heat should last..and when she should have her vulva back to her normal size..she's angry when my male goes near to her at times..and has become very manja on me apart from that..not much changes in my female in food intake or weight...are these symptons of pregnancy or was it still too early to tell?(they locked on 1st August) thanks

Hi Winter,

It is definitely far too early to confirm preganancy. As far as my experience tells me, one of the earliest signs of pregnancy is nipples turning pinkish about 2 weeks after the mating. Other than this, there really is not other obvious tell-tale signs that I can swear by.

With regards to food intake, there is no need to increase the amount until after the puppies are born. Exercise and walk the dam as per normal. As her pregnancy gets more advanced (you will know more or less around the 45 days after the mating), go slow on the exercise but by no means omit it totally. The dam needs to be healthy and in good condition in order to whelp successfully. As for the brand of food, this is very subjective. If your dam has always been doing well on what she has been fed on, there is really no reason to switch suddenly.

Best advice on whelping and rearing a litter could come in the form of the book called "Book Of The Bitch". Get a copy and start reading up. You will benefit more and be more prepared for the arrival of the puppies, or whatever complications that may arise.

Cheers!
