Thanks AbsoluteRanchu. Can you pls let me know whether the difference between the sakura tail and the four point tail depends on just the depth of the tail core/split in the tail?

Sakura tail is a three pointed tail. There are a few kind of four pointed tails, some that are split a little bit just at the end and some that are split right to the core. They are all exceptable and good. Every one has their own favorite. I like those that are rather deep and are very close together so that it looks like it's a sakura tail.

In competition, both four or three pointed tails are judge as equal, no difference whatsoever. The quality of the overall picture of the fish is the most important thing. We showed one of Mr.Kashino trophy fish during the Workshop to show that if a fish is beautiful, it's really does not matter if it has a three or four pointed tails.

Thank you AbsoluteRanchu. Can you pls let me know whether the sakurao tail in the hand drawn diagram in post #1 is the three point sakura tail, the yotsuo is the four point tail, and and the mitsuo is the three point tail? Can you also pls let me know whether there is any photo above that shows the difference between the normal three point tail and and the sakura three point tail? Thanks again.

Smile

This is the Junior Tosai Champion with a sakura tail, from the All Thailand Ranchu Show (ATRS) 2005. Also the small picture showing the under picture of the tail (red fish) in answer #8 is also a sakurao.
