hmm.. i think its interesting that this forum has a breeding page..unique to other singaporean forums. i believe this will give people the chance to discuss the actual breeding practices which will be a refreshing change. I dont think this should be a forum where people ask for stud services or ask questions when its too late (e.g why are my scottish fold kittens deformed..both parents are both pure scottish fold wad..)..which shows that the person did not do any research before attempting to breed. all in all.. i hope this can be a good discussion forum which it seems to have the potential to be.

I couldn't agree more!! Responsible breeding is the key.

Sorry, I forgot to introduce my self, my name is Zissura Akadata Suraatmaja, nicked Yukie, from Indonesia, owner of Zissura Cattery. I breed only persians.
Responsible breeders not only breed to improve the quality of animals (Health, Aesthetic and personality aspects) but also do everything possible to put their animals only at the right house, approved loving families.

I've seen to many "breeders by accidents"!! Those who firstly bought a cat "only for family pet", and then when the cat got its first oestrus they think:"It is nice to breed her, so I could sell her kittens, make some money to cover her own expenses. When they finally make sales they started to think that they can make more money if they breed more cats. They mostly end up with numerous parent stocks which breed amazing amount of kittens every month. There it goes....we have a new kitten mills!!!

That's why I haven't bred my cats the last two years as there are so many "business oriented people" nowadays.

I think a good responsible breeder will have to know what their objectives right from the very beginning, breeding "just because we like the kittens" or moreover "the cover the cats expenses" is not acceptable!!

And ait goes the same way, whether our cats are pedigreed or not. I will not give "breeding right" to those who does not really know what their objectives are.

regards,
Yukie

[QUOTE=bunnyhugger]i am a pet lover and have nothing against responsible breeders. The word is RESPONSIBLE . Before there are pet owners or breeders, we must all be animal lovers right. If you respect an animal as an equal living being then you must accord the animal with the same treatment you do to other humans or better still a friend.

Dear Heartkiel,

I think I need to clarify that there's no cat actually registered with FIFe as unlike CFA; FIFe is not a registry body. As a federation FIFe is a three level organisation: FIFe - National Organisation - personal members. In FIFe cats are registered with the national organisation.

I registered my cats with ICA (Indonesian Cat Association), Indonesian FIFe member. In fact I had just finished my first 3 years period of serving ICA members as ICA Representative for FIFe. I am very proud that ICA is accepted by FIFe GA 2005 as under patronage member, FIFe is IMO an ideal organisation for cat lovers.

regards,
Yukie
