    Talking Iggies

Thanks for your compliments guys. Yes my puppy is a female. I did have some pvt msg asking me some qns. so i thght of sharing here so everyone can learn from my experience.

I look forward to meeting more Iggies buddies!

Just want to ask if you also got yours from there?
I got my puppy from a reputable SKC registered private dog breeder.

    And doesn't it bark often?
I have had my puppy for 4weeks now, and she does not barked at all. Well maybe just 2 bark noises once only. She would make the hmmm hmmm hmmm "crying" kind of noise only when she wants attention. IG are relatively sensitive animals. They are not the loud bossy type.

And does it still manage to listen of training at this age?
She is very fast and focused. I am not sure if all IG are like tt, but she learns very fast.

Btw, how old is your dog?
My puppy was born on the 27th March 2009. So you do the Maths

Hope you can share you experience before I commit myself of getting one.
    - Well basically IG are great for family. To get as a first dog is fantastic too. IG are super friendly and a real sweetheart. They are not noisy, can not be guard dogs and they sensitive too. My puppy will wag its tail to every stranger it sees. haha just too friendly i guess. And at home she just likes to chew her toys, laze on bed or just hang loose with us. When we bring her down for walk, she loves to run! and boy oh boy she can sprint like crazy.. haha i will share some video in the future.

Feel free to ask me anything else.

Smile Keeping Italian Greyhound as pet

Italian Greyhound is a small breed of dog of the sight hound type. They are sometimes called an "I.G.", "Iggies" "Iggy" for short. They belong to the Toy Group and are HDB approved.

    Appearance

The Italian Greyhound is the smallest of the sighthounds, typically weighing about 3.6 to 6.8 kg and standing about 33 to 38 cm tall. Though they are in the "toy" group based on their weight, they are larger than other dogs in the category due to their slender bodies. They are able to run at top speed with a double suspension gallop (all 4 legs in the air), and can achieve a top speed of up to 40 km/h.

    Temperament

The Italian Greyhound is affectionate and makes a good companion dog. The breed is excellent for families and enjoys the company of people, they are somewhat aloof and cat like too.

They are fast, agile and athletic. Italian greyhounds love to run. They enjoy running as fast as they possibly can, typically faster than other larger dogs.

In general the Italian Greyhounds are intelligent, but they often have an aloof attitude and do not exactly throw themselves into training with great excitement, so patience, firmness, gentleness, and reward in training seem to work best. They are also known for their mischievous ingenuity; despite a high center of gravity, they can easily walk upright on their hind legs to reach items up on tables. They also have a 'hidden talent' of jumping to unusual heights.

Italian Greyhounds instinctively hunt by sight and have an extremely high predator drive. Owners of Italian Greyhounds should keep their dogs leashed at all times when not in an enclosed area to avoid the risk of even a well-behaved pet breaking away at high speed after a small animal.

    Grooming

They have an extremely short and almost odorless coat that requires little more than an occasional bath, but a wipe-down with a damp cloth is recommended after walks as seeds, burrs and floating dust in the air can get into the coat and irritate the skin. Shedding is typical as of other breeds, but the hair that is shed is extremely short and fine and is easily vacuumed.

    Nice looking puppy you have.
Give her the right food and supplements, she will grow up to be a beauty.
