How To Clean Puppy's Ears

How to clean the puppy's ears? I've tried to and worry that I'll hurt him. What is the proper way to clean them? I've been sending my puppy for bathe and trim once a week and I would like to do that for my puppy myself too. Is it hard to clean a Mini Schnuazer's ears? I know I sounds like a wally owner :D

Hi bradbury,
Most ear cleaning products have instructions on the bottle. If there isn't, it is wise to avoid them.

1) Instil the liquid liberally into the ear canal. Hold the dog's head still, otherwise he'll immediatley shake his head expelling the cleaning liquid before you could do the job.
2) GENTLY massage the base of the ear for about 30 seconds to a minute to loosen ear wax.
3) Now release your grip and let him shake his head. A good amount of wax will be expelled in the form of brown liquid.
4) GENTLY wipe with a facial cleaning wool.
That's it!

Caution :
- NEVER use cotton buds to dig into the ear canal.
- Do not use too much force when cleaning. Be gentle.

;)

You are welcome.
Also since yours is a Mini Schnauzer it is necessary to remove the ear hair regularly as it tend to grow very quickly. This is best left to a qualified groomer is you are not able to handle it. ;)

My apologies. I wanted to move this thread from Doggie General Forum to Doggie Health and Grooming Forum but ended up here by mistake. I have informed admin and hope something can be done. I am at a loss as to how to remedy it.
