Ranchu Pond in Belgium
 

Dear Ranchu Friends,

In this thread I want to show you how I keep my Ranchu. I hope you will enjoy the trip to Belgium !
On the first 3 photos you can see my Nisai and Oya Ranchu House.

On the first photo you see 4 ponds of 300 cm x 150 cm and 4 ponds of 200 cm x 150 cm.
The second photo shows a pond with Seed Ranchu. Note the algae on the bottom and the sides of the pond.
The third photo shows the entrance of my Oya Ranchu House. This system allows fresh air and protection against cats.

The first photo shows my Tosai Ranchu House with 7 ponds of 150 cm x 100 cm. The second photo shows a Tosai pond with algae. The third photo shows the digital thermostats that I use in all my ponds to control temperature.

First photo : incubation tank to hatch the eggs. Second & third photo : I have 8 glass tanks of 200 cm x 70 cm in which I keep my BBR the first 4 weeks.

Hi, nice set up, very neat and well organised.
Mind if i ask you a question?
The artemia that you use...are they the normal artemia eggs or the eggs that are 1/3 the size of the normal artemia? Also, do u decap the eggs? How about enrichment?

Very nice set up. A small size farm, no less. Very clean and equipments are exactly like many friends I know in Japan. He has to worry about heating the pond, while we have to worry about cooling the water. Amazing insights, thank you Geert for sharing with us. :D

Thanks Geert, I don't know whether you've mentioned before but how deep do you maintain your water for your tosai, nisai and oya pls?

Geert, for what you have put in, you deserve to be successful in producing good ranchu.
