Hi all..my female chihuahua was having her first heat...i had her separated from my male chi..putting them in two different rooms...but that day while i was ***ping the floor..they mated :eek: :mad: ..would there be a chance of pregnancy? and what should i do if she's pregnant? i had no intention to breed them and wanted to steralize her when she's a year old..she's only 8 month plus now and my male is 10 month plus..please advise, thanks :confused:

Did the two dogs lock themselves? Most likely can get pregnant coz I had seen a similar case before. What you can do is go for a check up and ask the vet for advice. In Malaysia, dogs with unwanted pregnancies can do abortions and spaying at the same time.

yes...they were locked for about 15 mins...i would have separated them if they were not locked...was too late :confused: ...i'll check with the vet to see what they can do for me...thanks for the advise ;)

It depends ....b cos from what i know CHH breeding quite hard ...takes many times to be successfull ....just for your info if you see that your female is putting on weight and eating a lot with nipples swollen then your female is preg

:) oh, thanks francis..but what should i do during her pregnancy..i mean..any special care? and what about the litters? i've read articles in the net...chihuahuas has complications during deliveries...i'm so worried now...my female is so young...i bought her to the vet last night...the vet says can only confirm with blood test for her pregnancy after 30 days...and not advising abortions...and wasn't keen to tell about care of pregnancy as he can't confirm my dog is pregnant :mad: ...can u please give me some advises? thanks :)

Over next two weeks check her vulva. If pregnant the vulva will remain swollen and still retain the lighter skin tone and chances are you will also can see some whitish or colourless sticky discharges coming out from there. If discharge is yellowish and smelly chances are infection... better rush to the vet. If not pregnant the vulva will shrink over the nest few days till it come back to its normal size and the colour should be darker brown.

Feeding for the first month till confirm pregnant should be just plain normal and only increase if confirm pregnant...will teach you what to feed xtra for healthy puppies.

hmz mostly is just to pump the bitch with puppy food .... bout chh giving birth ....cannt comment much b cos my jrt bitch also gave birth without supervision

thank you kitsilano and francis...i'll do just what u both advises...by the way..she is still a puppy and is taking puppy food..but i do give both my dogs rice with chicken fillet as dinner..should i stop that? they would sometimes just wait for their dinner and not taking their kibbles in the day :mad: ..i'll check her vulva over these couple of days and keep both posted..please keep me posted also if there are other advises available..thanks :)
