I've always wanted to learn more about shama but don't know where to start. Bro, is there any website/books that you recommend me to read to learn more?

Developing your own breeding genes
 

Just been told by a friend that your male parent bird "Vietkong" is a "wild bird" from a part of the country in South Vietnam known for very good shamas and your female parent bird "Meenah" is a "wild bird" from NNW peninsula Malaysia also from a place well known for good shamas. Congratulations again Andrew for being the first this part of the world to breed shamas with a pair of parent birds from these 2 countries. Also for your pioneering spirit to breed from something new instead of being like other "copycat" breeders using good genes developed by others. *clap *clap *clap

Thanks Mr Kan, actually i m too busy to go into breeding of shama but after you stop breeding shama for the pass few years:( can see the standard of home bred shama have drop tremendously , nowsaday what we can find in the market abt the home bred shama, we can see at the birds arena those bird with super long tail stood on the perch like an idoit.......no display (except when a female is place beside him)....the 2 long tail to me is a burden to the bird.....
Hopefully my breeding program can get some good character shama.......and winning cups in the competition.....and most important dun have the blood line of any previous breeder...if not they can claim credit that my chick got their ancestor bloodline when winning in competition..... *dance

I whole-heartedly agree with u Andrew.
As a breeder u sh always strive to do it on your own.
Do not go where others have been and they having done so attempt to justify by saying what had been done is 'faulty' and they now come to the rescue to 'put things right' and in the process they then claim they have made great improvements over the past model and shamelessly forgetting how they were given this new start(after having failed miserably for almost two decades) 'on a platter' on the right path finally by the pioneer breeder. :mad:

The best way to start and learn about the shama is to go down to the 'chai tios' and talk to as many people as possible who are knowlegeable about this bird. My advice is not to go to the internet as u may find a lot of misinformation there offered by so-called shama 'sifus' hanging around there because they have nothing better to do but waste your time with the rubbish they dish out! :(
