Sunlight is awesome for the fish. Here's a good example for you.

Thank you Absolute for the information. Is it ok for a bbr to be under direct morning and afternoon sun, the whole day pls?

There should also be good circulation of air around the pond too, natural or man made is ok.

Sunlight is mandatory if you want good colour developement for your ranchu. One point to note is that it will be good for you to provide some kind of shaded portion in your tubs or pond where the ranchu can take cover from the blistering heat. UV-rays gives your ranchu the colour whereas infra-red rays gives the heat. You should go for the UV-rays and not the Infra-red rays.

Putting a shade over the tub/pond will prevent lot of the heat from boiling your ranchu.

Also please do not forget good aeration of air around your TVR pond ok (aka a fan :p ). The best way to reduce the water temperature. The colder the water the better the condition for your babies skin condition. :)
