Guinea Pigs

The guinea pig or cavy originates from South America and was introduced into Europe 400 year ago by the Spanish conquerors returning home. Guinea pig sows produce 1-6 piglets, which are born with their eyes open, ready to face the world! Guinea pigs enjoy interaction with its owner and are very vocal, they can produce happy murmur and gurgle like sounds when offered the enjoyable Sluis Superior Menu. Dinner time is party time!
The guinea pig doesn't adapt well to dietary changes, so any change of food has to be done gradually. Guinea pigs require extra vitamin C in their daily diet, as they can't produce it themselves. A deficiency of vitamin C will lead to scury, bad coat quality and lameness.
A major problem for the addition of vitamin C to guinea pig food is that this vitamin breaks downin the food, it disappears.
