Dear Parrot Expert...
Hi people! I'm thinking on getting a parrot but I've heard & read that that most of them are aggressive when they're sexually matured. Is this true? I don't mind the price but I prefer parrots that's medium sized, not necessarily that talks but one that doesn't mind cuddling or excessive handling. Which breed is the best?
Please advise.. Thanks! |
I never have problem taming even WILD parrots. I suppose getting a young chick and spending a lot of time bonding helps. My experience is not that mature bird are more prone to aggressiveness if they are a lone bird but when they have a mate then the behaviour may be more pronounced. :)
I know people with Quaker and Conure, even Love Bird and Budgies that appear very loving. ;) |
hiiiiii :) ...juz wonderin what parrots you tame so far...wanna share with us...got charge $$$

Well, let me think.... Peppy my first African Grey was selected out of a cage of growling wild caught CAG. And there was Johnny the Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo and Polly the Blue Fronted Amazon; they were biting birds when I first bought them. :D
The key to taming parrot is really to build "TRUST" first. Lots of interaction and feeding their favourite food. Teaching the "Step-up" is important as well. New parrotowners, even experienced owners as I've observed sometimes lack the skill of getting the bird to Step-up. :o Quote:

I always admire/envious of ppl how to train a parrot to stay around you and not fly away??

peepwee,
Most of these parrots you see have had their wings trimmed, so they can't fly away. :p Quote:
