How Do I toilet train my bunnies?

My rabbits pees and poos around the entire cage. They do not have a specific place where they do their business. Wherever the litter pan is placed, they would just pee and poo all over but just not in there. How do I get them to start using it? It's a quite a problem since I'm not using a tray based cage. I do not want them to step on their piss. I have to groom them almost every day because of this.

My rabbits think that the whole house is for them to roam about hence, the entire cage is their toilet, but, strangely... they would avoid using the little pan.

Any suggestions to toilet train them?
(They live in separate cages with both with the same problem.)

hi there,
though ii am not familiar with rabbit but ii guess dog and hamster does do the same thing.. you will have to pick up the soil and put it at where you want them to poo and pee on.. that what ii did.. really works on them. hope the above helps you..

I tried doing that but it doesn't work at all. My rabbit thinks the entire cage is his litter box since he's allowed to run about in the house most of the time. The problem lies in the fact that when I'm not home, he has to stay in his cage. And I don't want him stepping in his piss. I tried putting wire mesh, trays, etc... He refuses to use them. He would pee around it or stick his butt out and piss outside. -.-"

I've been trying to train him for over a month now... tried almost all the methods I found and read up on... but it still doesn't seem to work on him. Sigh.

Yes I tried that.. I used detol and deodorizer to clean the entire cage. But it doesn't seem to work. He ends up pissing everywhere and starts rattling the cage so we'll let him out to roam around the house.
My other bunnies are fine, they learned how to use the litter box within a day. It's just Thumper. I've been trying to get him to use the litter box for almost two months now... -.-"
He's very stubborn.

Have you considered sterelising him if he's not already sterelised? From what you're saying, i don't think he will be able to be toilet trained easily... sterelisation might help this prob.
