CAG feather dropping off

Hi brothers,

I am new to this forum.

Just got a one year old CAG few weeks back.

Recently I realised that it feathers easily drop off upon light stroke.(between 10-20 pieces per day. mixture of big and small feathers)

It diet are fresh boiled corn, long bean, seeds and some pellet.

Any advice from expert out there?

Thanks

Rdgs

Is it the the "big" feathers (eg. the flight wings) or the small downy white feathers? Are you sure that its a year?
During 8 months it'll start dropping the small downy white feathers. At about 18 months there seems to be another "molt" but this is just another obvious part of the "first" molt. It is easy to monitor the molting progress because of Grey's first tail feathers are edged with slightly black tip.
If its those "big feathers", then I think you should go to a vet instead.

Anyway I'm not any expert and its just a slight knowledge...

Thanks for your reply

Those are small and mid size feathers including some red feathers from tail.

As obeserve just now according to your description, there are some black tip on the tail feathers, but don't know whether that are dirt .

Its not feather plucking right? If its not than maybe the previous owner might have gotten the age wrong.

Its not dirt but just the baby tail feathers. As what Cockatielluver say the previous owner may get the age wrong. Chicks’ eyes are entirely black. As they age grows it'll become from white to a more yellow in color.
Also check his diet see if he is taking his food and check on his WC...
Cant really give a good advice because you must observe him closely.
