reeko,
Feather Plucking is often attributed as a medical problem but I believe it's a behaviour problem until proven otherwise. You have to see a Vet for the medical aspect, I am not in a position to advise on that, and it's always good to eliminate the possibilty of a medical condition before embarking on other measures. My experience is that Feather Plucking is more prevalent in Cockatoo and harder to resolve. The underlying reason is largely boredom. Spent more time interacting with your bird. Provide him some suitable toys and a "gym" to climb and play. When I say spent more time it should be more a consistent regular daily routine. I'd add multi vitamin and include fruits and veg in the diet. Perhaps our Parrot breeders on the forum can offer their perspective. Cheers ;) Quote:

Hi reeko,
Agree with dogcom, normally feather pluging is resulted boredom if it is a single pet bird. In some case, it is also due to some parasite in that live in their feathers... I think you may try to seek advice from the vet, and if the vet confirm that he didn't need any medical care, you can start to 'cure' from the behaviour perspective... :) good luck. |
Thanks! Will try all the suggestions. :)
