Poodle killed by Huskie

I was shocked to learn from one of my student that a Poodle was killed by a Huskie at the West Coast Dog Run last Sunday. It's so unfortunate that a life is taken but it's something I could see happening sooner or later. Dogs are dogs, they challenge each other, they fight and sometimes they kill when their predatory instinct kicks in. Socialise your dogs yes, but you still need to keep watch over your dog and have control instead of letting it run wild disturbing other dogs that may not want to be disturb or to aggress. Just my thought on this.

Just a month ago there is a similar incident happened. A 6 month old puppy was killed by a very good temperment adult dog. No one expect such things to happen and we are still figuring what is the exact cause. I believe 2 lessons to be learnt here. One is never leave your dog alone with other dogs and the other is, always invest proper obedience training for your dogs. This will enhance the relationship between the owner and the pet for sure.
