I don't think so, in Singapore there are buildings/flats are everywhere. Once the bird take fight, it may not know how to come back. I used to own a lovebird that flew out and didn't manage to come back, I only manage to get her back 3 days later when I heard her chirpping on a tree below my block. She must be confused and doesn't know which unit I'm in as there are too many flats around! Unlike many many years ago, my grand uncle used to own many cockatoos and greys and he did not even chain a single of them! They are all tame from wild and would fly in and out of his place as and when they want. Its just so cool, thou I was around 5 or 6 yrs old, I can still remember everything clearly. After a few years later, most of his birds didn't come back after HDB flat starts to built around his area. :(

Elgin,
You are rite. There are quite a number of parrots that escaped but never find their way back again. This is likely the flats that confused the birds' direction.

Yes,they have the intelligence, guess the the identical buildings(HDB) confuses them.If not i suppose they will Be able to fly back to the owner.

I think actually most pet bird will feel secure with the owner and they will try to find it way back if possible...

Wow, your grand uncle is very lucky back then... :D

Well, I guess he spend a lot of time taming those wild cockatoos. Heard he got them from indonesia last time and if I did not remember wrongly, all his birds drink chinese tea instate of plain water. Guess its because of that then they kept coming back cos they are not used to drinking plain water...

Sob..sob.sob My PC often lock up when viewing certain video clips. I think viewing small files are OK, problem arise when the files are big. I'm on broadband sharing. Any IT expert care to advise.
