Hi there, andiezzz. I came upon ur thread and saw what u were asking for. U bought 2 GR pups for ur gf. In my opinon, dogs were not meant to be a gift or a present. (Dun be angry upon listening to this, read on) Cos its abt a lot of committment. When u decided to embark on this journey, i hope u and ur gf have already been prepared. If u had owned dogs before, then u might understand what i m saying. Now to come into ur topic as u asked which dog food is best, i cant really say which one is the best as it all depends on the dogs itself. Dog food is always a battle of prices and if u buy the most expensive dog food it might not be the best. U want the best dog food and u also want to be the cheapest. How is it possible? U can have the best dog food but maybe at reasonable price, surely not cheapest. Anyway ur doggies are in the pup stage, u might consider feeding them pup food. Sounds logical rite? U can decide to change to adult food when ur doggies grow up. If u want any suggestions, can browse this forum to search. I came across some topics which ppl discuss abt the best dog food. Try to look for tat topic. Cheers @@

Hei!

I do have to agreed with Kiki.

Puppies as presents are bad choices. Especially if no research are done before hand. I do hope you've done all your researches before deciding on which kinda dogs to get. "Cuteness" should be the last factor.

Sorry to bombard you...but too many puppies have been given as "presents" and being abandoned when they grow up or owners are just too ignorant about the care of a dog and they think that the dog is too "troublesome"

Having said all that, a few brands to note about dog food is...

1) How much of by-products they use in the food. Some brands such as P*** has got more by-products. Generally those sold at supermarkets have more by-products than those sold in pet shops.

2) Dry or wet. Wet food taste better because it's got a higher sodium content. But problems include bad teeth, unless you brush their teeth. More expensive. Heavier to carry home

3) You have to know whether your dog is allergic to certain foods. Some dogs are even allergic to chickens. So you may need to see if it displays any allergic reactions such as rashes.

4) Lastly...if you've decided on a brand of food. Don't change it to your liking. If you keep changing the brand of food, not only your dog will get a tummy ache, it may become a fussy eater.

Pet shops.

The one I frequent is Sundream at Far East Shopping Centre. It's owned by a Japanese. Very friendly and remembers you by your first name. Prices are cheaper especially for Japanese products.

Okay...my two-cents worth of advice. Go on and continue to read up about GR..they are my fav breed. Too bad I stay in a HDB, no space so I keep a JRT.

Enjoy your dog and may it live long and continue to give your the pleasure AND heartaches of owning a dog (or being owned by one)

I recommend Solid gold, but that is my own preference. Every dog has his/her fave brand of doggie food.
Some dogs are better of Solid Gold, some on Science diet etc etc
