The tail is quite alright for this fish, overall a very nice piece. I have carefully look at the fish and paid close attention to the tail. The only thing that I see is that it's too skinny and the size of the tail made the balance of the fish a bit off. When the fish is bigger, this fish is going to be a real nice piece. I wish that I could have taken more pics of the fish, but it's now in quarantine and heading for it's new home already. Mr.Oishi's Comp Fish are almost sold out, we only have 3 left.
I would like to add one thing about the condition of the tail. For this fish the tail is not broken, the pictures made it appear so. However, with minor defects with the tails, there are definitely steps that you can do to help the tail improve in quality. I plan to talk a bit about this at the workshop later on this weekend. Some of the Japanese breeders goes as far as to cut some of the tails of their junior fish, to improve the tail condition. This needs to be done by experts but the exercises that you can do could be learned easily. Come by to the Workshop if you have time, and we can discuss this in more details.
