You see I grew up with the idea that a ranchu should have a short and rounded body. This "pui pui" (fat fat) notation stayed with me until recently even when I started this TVR hobby. Till date, no one has given me a satisfactory answer. Should a ranchu have a long and slender body or not. This is surely one question that I am going to ask the workshop leaders.
As a preview to the workshop, I think discussion like this will help us be more prepared to ask questions.
Any Comments?

I was at Rainbow after 9/11...kinda walking around on a boring sunday afternoon and omg saw some crown bettas...shocked that the fighting fish that I used to catch from the "peu toh" pond now shaped like this and saw some halfmoon on the net...my eyes went bonkers...time really changed.
I think when you look at the conformation standard for any fish breed, there is the aestatic portion which I like to call standing portion...just the physical attributes and then the moving portion...how powerful or graceful the swimming pattern. I think the changes of the ranchu from the round round to the longer type is more to do with the swimming gracefulness that can be appreciated and owners can compete for in show. The notion that a good ranchu should look like a sumo wrestler literally dictate that the ranchu must be broad, slightly longer and yet robust.
