Weird creature!

Hey can any of you regonise this rodent? I saw it at farmart last week. Though it is a rat,but observe carefully its not. The tail is fat and naked, not longer than ordinary rat. The nose is much sharper and pointed than rat. the eys is also small. According to one of the shop owner, she say its the descendant of elephant and 1 more animal. It call " tree shew, chew" something like that.

tree shrews don't have a naked tail and their eyes are fairly large.

Brown Musk Shrew

This is called a Brown Musk Shrew, commonly known as a house shrew.
When you see a rat or mouse scuttling around at night anywhere in Singapore, observe carefully..

Rats and mice tend to scurry and bound around.
The shrew tends to travel at a very constant speed usually (imagine a wind-up toy). But please do not try to catch them. I remember reading about a Singaporean jogger who got bitten by one (they bite) and the wound got infected.

Was the farmart show owner trying to sell it?

She's got her facts wrong. The creature people say has the same ancestor as the elephant is the hyrax, not a shrew.
