Dear Sky,

I do not know you nor do I know what happened. However, I do strongly feel for you and understand what you must be going through.

I moved back to Singapore six years ago after living in the US for 18 years. When I left, I had to rehome 2 dogs (Pomeranians), 12 cats and more than 50 finches. I am a small bird enthusiast. It broke my heart but I was lucky that my neighbour took all the cats as she had already fallen in love with them. My dogs went to relatives in Canada and my birds were given to people within the bird scene there who knew what they were doing and how to care for them.

Never the less, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss them dearly. You mentioned that there was an accident. In reality, accidents happen all the time. Parents have accidents with children, my best friend lost her 9 year old son when he was upstairs playing on his double-decker bed and got caught in a knot while jumping off...and choked himself to death. She was distraught, and so were we. He was like a son to me too. BUT, accidents happen and we can only learn from them. It doesn't mean we get over it and fully "recover" from the pain. I miss the little boy dearly every April when it comes to his birthday...and it's already been almost 10 years since he died.

Your obvious love for your birds is so clear to us, even those of us who do not know you. Your willingness to give them a "better" home because you don't think you are a "good parrot keeper" shows your true love for your pets and I am so touched by it. But in all honestly, there's no way anyone can ever guarantee you that accidents won't happen with them either. I won't try to even tell you what to do, it's not my place. I just want you to know that I would have been proud if any of my "kids" had gone to someone as slefless as you.

There's always a silver lining to every cloud, and sometimes when days are horribly cloudy...the silver lining is slow to appear. But when it does...it's beautiful. I hope that you find that silver lining soon.

by the way, we are neighbours. I am in 643, just across the big street and MRT station. Good luck.
