Generally, my bunnies don't play with their poop. Your bunny has lots of cecals which he is suppose to be consuming.How long have you had him?
Sometimes when they are in new environments, they tend to over-produce cecals.
Does he have a lot of eye discharge? Just fyi... i have never needed to clear eye waste from my rabbits unless they have an eye infection or irritation.
