Clipping has definitley gotta be an indevidual decision based on your own lifestyle, the bird & your home.
Either choice there are a risks involved that need to be considered.
Also There are birds that do better flighted & birds that do better clipped.
I have 2 clipped, 1 not clipped for various reasons.
The clipped birds are far from disabled or disadvantaged by being clipped. They get around beautifully & on their own. To an advantage of one of my clipped birds. He learnt to do some unbelievable climbing & acrobats.
I love to take my birds outside too. I don't want any panick attacks & taking off somewhere. When clipped I know how much they can or can't fly, so I use this to decide what to do about going outside, where, how much in the open, how close or far away from a fence, tree etc....so they don't end up where they shouldn't be.
The flighted bird is rather lazy LOL flighted because he tends to panick & take off. If this happens & we aren't in the room, he can't get back to his perch safely if he's clipped. During his hormonal periods I do clip him because he can be quite naughty in the house.
But, 1 thing never to forget, a clipped bird can always have their wings grow back if it doesn't work out for the best.
