Some Quest
At around wat age does greys start to molt? And when greys are young, their eyes and feet are darker in colour. Mine is now around 6mths of age. its feet look normal but its eye is 1 side bright 1 side dark.. is this normal?
Btw my grey is not vocal at all. it doesn't chirp or make any noise at all. At the most a few chirps when he sees me.. And is it wise to buy stuff from overseas?? wat are the charges like for a parrot play gym?? |

A grey should molt between 08-18mths. During 8 months it'll start dropping the small downy white feathers all over your floor. At about 18 months there seems to be another molt but this is just another obvious part of the "first" molt.
it is very easy to monitor the molting progress since Grey's first tail feathers are edged with slightly black tip. African Grey may be known as to be the best talkers among all parrots. However this does not mean that they will all talk if having a Grey for that reason is not acceptable. A human also takes at least 1 yr to talk so do not expect too much from him. The most important thing now is build your rapport between your grey and you. Greys are a loving and wonderful companionship. Please don’t get a Grey because Greys "talk". ![]() |

Not to worry its normal...
If you have been constantly playing with it. No worries on him being too bored and pluck his feathers. As for your eyes issue, we human also do not have equal sized hand/eyes so it shouldn't be a problem to a bird too. About the chirping problem, greys are the quietest among all parrots but as long as you do heard him chirp before then everything is alright (he wont be a mute.. lol...). Relax yourself bro, you are stressing yourself too much and expecting too much from your grey. Give the little fellow some time he'll turned better... ![]() |
