1st Aquatic Competition and Exhibition at Singapore Polytechnic ( 1-3 Dec 2006)

The Aquaria Competition and Exhibition @ Singapore Polytechnic will be the first time that fish hobbyists clubs will come together with a tertiary institution to co-organise an ornamental fish competition cum exhibition.

The venue is the Foyer and Gallery @T11A, @ Singapore Polytechnic, less than a 5 minute walk from Dover MRT Station. There is no entrance fee.

The programme consists of various tropical fish hobbyists clubs holding their competitions, such as the 6th National Betta Competition, 1st Regional Guppy Competition and 1st National Pleco Competition. In addition, there will be an eye-catching display of Marine Fish. Moreover, notable hobbyists will give interesting talks during the Seminar / Public Forum on the keeping of Bettas, Marine Fish, Guppies and Plecos. These talks will be peppered with colourful slides and DVD and video presentations on keeping these popular species in ‘tip top’ condition, genetic strains coupled with interesting anecdotes. This is one of the highlights of the event.

Pleco Competition Classes :
1. Pseudacanthicus
2. Panaque
3. Open

There will be Attractive Prizes for the 1st to 3rd positions of each class and a Grand Prize for the Grand Champion winner.

1-3 December (10am – 7pm) Exhibition-cum-Competition
1 December (12 noon) Competition Judging
2 December
Seminar / Public Forum on Ornamental Fishkeeping
10am – 11am: Keeping Guppies and Guppy strains
11am – 11.30 am Keeping Bettas, genetics and strains
11.30am – 12noon Q & A Session
2pm – 3pm Basics on keeping Marine fish
3pm – 3.30pm Keeping Plecos

2 Dec (12noon) Prize giving ceremony (Grand Champions)
