Your hamster is 3 years old, equivalent to 100 years old human life! If he is a human, the medical Dr. would say leave it alone, as surgery, be it minor or major, going thru general anaesthesia, is dangerous. For a hamsters, he may sleeps thru the general anaesthesia, and never wakes up. If he doesn't go for surgery, he may live longer. Hamsters can endure, excruciating pain and hide the pain very well. I was told by my vet, that even though u chop off the legs of the hamsters, he will still be running on the wheels as per norm!!
So weigh your options. Either u see a vet, pay for the surgery, and be prepared that he may sleeps forever on the operating table, or leave the tumour alone, be it cancerous or not. His hair is dropping around the lump! Cancerous growth usually eats up the surrounding area, causing loss of fur......but I can't comfirm it is a tumour until a test is done on the tissue/ growth on that area. Goodluck. |
