Hi all,

what is the best age to breed a female boxer?When is it too old or too young? I hv a 6 yrs old briddled stud and looking for a bitch now.Is it true that boxers don't live past 10?

Normally the best age to breed a female is during or after the 2nd heat. Majority would breed their dogs during the 2nd heat or 3rd. I'm no pro in breeding nor with any experience but that's just basic knowledge.

Males can start breeding after a year, you can still use your male as a stud anyway. My boxer's sire was 11 years old when he sired my dog hahahah....

Well, a health boxer on a healthy low fat and low sodium diet could live up to 10 years or more. I had 2 boxers, now left with 1. My 1st boxer died of heart failure at the age of 8 years. My current boxer with me is now 8 years but very active and healthy. So it depends.... some boxers may have genetic disorders that show up after their senior years.... so it is good to be careful.

You can take precaution, you can always get an xray and ultrasound of your dog's heart now. The vets told me that boxers are prone to heart disease, it is in the breed.
