AVA confirms no import of recalled pet food

Pet owners in Singapore can now breath a sigh of relief as the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) has said that there is no import of the pet food recalled by Menu Foods, Inc.

It confirmed this in a media statement released today.

The Canada-based manufacturer had earlier recalled all its "cuts and gravy" style dog and cat food, produced between December 3 last year and March 6 this year, at its facility in Emporia, Kansas. No dry pet food was affected by the recall.

According to the US Food and Drug Administration, there have been a few reports of cats and dogs in the country developing kidney failure after eating the affected food.
