Do cats transmit disease to humans?

Do cats transmit disease to humans?

Hi guys. Just wonderin whther cats can transmit any disease to humans especially kids??

they can.. they are called zoonotic diseases(passed fr animal to human to vice versa). certain bacterium like toxoplasmosis and fungus infections like ringworm. however there are certain precautions u can take against them and also, to prevent them from happening in the first place. how is this a concern with u?

Hi SIs. I have a 2 year old kid and my wife is quite concerned abt cats affecting his health in the near future. R the diseases fatal?? What are the precautions that I should adopt to avoid tis? Pls enlighten me. Cheers

Hi there,
do you have any cats at present? If you don't have a cat yet but am thinking of getting one, do consider your wife's approval....otherwise you will have to rehome your cat.... After all, the life span of a cat is relatively long.
Btw, does your child have asthma or any allergies to dust/fur? These are very important factors to think of before you get a cat..

its scientifically proven that kids growing up with animals have better immunity and socialise better. toxoplasmosis is a concern with pregnant ladies.. if ur gonna stop at one kid.. you have no worries. if not.. read up about what u can do to prevent this.. ringworm is a fungal infection which causes red, dry spots on the body and fur loss. it is not fatal.. a healthy cat from a good breeder will not have such diseases.
