Need Advice: Re: Silky Terrier or Yorkshire Terrier

Please do not laugh at me when I ask a simplistic question. I am very new regarding dogs.

1. Which kind of dog is better -- silky terrier or yorkshire terrier?

2. If the parents' dogs have pedigree and certificates, how to obtain certificates for their baby dogs?

3. How long does a puppy needs the mother dog's milk before it is weaned?

Your prompt replies would be appreciated.

hi mike

questions that you ask are not simple at all.

Just put it this way - my answer given to your question is very basic as more reading need to be done b4 you are clear abt pet ownership.

1. Which kind of dog is better -- silky terrier or yorkshire terrier?

Ans : note : you have already narrow down what you are looking for and still deicding which to choose among the 2 breed.

a) silky is cheaper than Yorkshire if you are considering the price range.

b) Yorkshire is smaller in size

2. If the parents' dogs have pedigree and certificates, how to obtain certificates for their baby dogs?

Ans : if parents both have SKC Cert - there should not be a problem, you need to have the cert of the Dam & Sire.

3. How long does a puppy needs the mother dog's milk before it is weaned?

Ans : Breeder will actually gauge the adaption of the pup - will start to intro semi wet food when around 6 weeks and by 8 weeks should be off wean.

Now my turn to ask you a few question

1. Are you a first time dog owner?

2. Are you going to show your dog?

3. Are you very particular of the cert issue?

4. Are you going to breed your dogs?

- I need to know in order to give you more info and depth. Cos from your question, sad to inform your knowledge is really too limited to even think of breeding.

Thks n rgds
Dorothy

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your email. Sorry I wasn't able to provide much help to your question. Yes this sort of questions is best answered by a breeder and Dorothy is the right person to asssit.

You've narrowed down to Silky and Yorkshire Terrier. Just bear in mind Terrier breeds tend to be dominant in nature in general. The small size and Hair coat type makes it a easy maintenance type. These are some of my personal favourite really, because of their high intelligence and trainability.
