Food -
Bloodworms (two meals a day - early morning and night)
Duckweed (one meal a day - together with one of the bloodworm feeding)
Pellet food (one meal a day - midday feeding)

Water -
Ph about 7
Salinity about 0.2% (0.02ppm)
Water change every 4-5 days (20%-30%)
Last but not least - I try to scoop up the shit from the tub as often as I can.

System -
One overhead filter (Cotton wool change every week)
One Sponge filter (Clean daily)
One Airstone

The above is what I use, it may or may not work for you. Try to adjust such that it fits your routine.

One last word of advice to you on this point, PY, once you get it up, keep it up. All you have to do now is maintain your performance and you are on your way.

Sawasdee krap.

Thanks for the encouragement. To tell you the truth, I'm still experimenting with my setup and feeding regime. Hopefully, I can find THE way that works for me and my ranchus.

I'm also exploring of using an open system (removing my overhead filter) but that would mean more work which I may not be able to do due to my other commitments. I'm holding this thot back for a while. Will see what the current system can do for me first before deciding if a switch is needed.

Thanks and Best Regards

Thanks PYKoh. I think there may be a typo, referring to 0.2% salt. Does it mean salt is recommended for usual grooming?

Some say yes, some say no. Depend what you believed in, I guess. I believed in using low salinity to ensure healthy growth of the ranchus.

Hello PY Koh,

This is a beautiful Ranchu. Considering the bloodline, we know that it will only become more beautiful with time and patience. You are doing a great job. It is only a pitty about the left tail bone.

Regards,

Geert Coppens
