Dear Heartkiel,
I am very sorry to say that I don't think I'll show my cats with CFA Indonesia when they start up. All I can write here is that the reason is not at all for they will be my organization's rival. Rivalry is good....it makes us try to work harder to serve our members, besides one good point of cat fancy is building social interaction - making friends. Mind if I asked you whether you are into the cat fancy or staying as cat lover? You'll see things pretty much differently once you'r in the cat fancy long enough. regards, Yukie |

I really don't like "cats politics" but if you go far enough and become board members you'll know that doing things underhand is unavoidable. We both live in South East Asia, "the center" of animal trading. If you are a working member you'll understand that things need to be done to at least ease this unhuman practice. I would really love to post my cats pics, unfortunately the computer in my office doesn't have USB plug. Hope to figure out a way.... Yukie |

i agree tt something must be done to stop animal trade. are most of the cats in pet stores there local? our's are a mix of australian and local ones.. very difficult to stop. however the australian side is trying to get some laws passed... i dunno how tt will work out

Guess Singaporean cat lovers and fanciers are luckier than us to have "only" local bred and Australian imported cats. Here in Indonesia you could fine imported cats and kittens not only from Indonesia, New Zealand, Australia, Germany and many countries!!
And I am not only talking about cats being "displayed" in pet store, there are also cats being offered in private houses of cat traders!! The second type of cat trading is quite sophisticated, better segmentized. The target is people which more money looking for cats from internationally known breeders from abroad (which are fooled by the traders who sent them picture of "cattery like designed" house).best regards, Yukie |

its likely because of the quarantine. aus n nz are the nearest. we prob have some from nz too. but in terms of cheapest shipping and no quarantine.. aus is the number one. uk is the only other country with no quarantine imposed. but the costs of shipping are high. i dont think we have those private traders here yet. i hope not! i think the best counter to these is education. hopefully people will understand enough to not support such trade. unfortunately some people here choose to ignore it. they always have this belief that " it will not happen to me"

"they always have this belief that " it will not happen to me"[/QUOTE]
I believe that they should think that some breeders of those cats and kittens don't have any idea that their precious cats/kittens actually bought by a trader for re-sale. I have a case inwhich a friend of mine was interested in a cat owned by another "senior breeder" (who actually bought the cat from a trader, this breeder is not a member of my club, thankully. I consider her as "registered kitten mills"). The cat is a grand champion titled. So this friend of mine send en e-mail to the breeder and said "Hi...I just saw your cat, GC..... at Mrs.XXX's house. I like him, very gorgeous male". You can imagine how mad the breeder to find out that a person she has been corresponding with is a trader. She was fooled by the pictures that shows a house which looks so much like a breeding cattery. Every responsible breeder should be aware that this kind of case happens here and there. We should do what we could to help other breeders to prevent such thing. Best regards, Yukie |
