Sorry about that, it's been a long day in front of the computer. My eyes are about to roll backward. Then I think this medication must be available for sure. I will try to go find the package that's on sale here so you can check out the products and may be you will be able to find it in the agricultural shops near you. Some of my friends who run big fish farm use them too. Worst come to worst, I can also send it to you, if you like. Once again, I apologize for the mix up.

What Ranchu Lover said is very true, and very important. The third picture is a picture of fish that has been in treatment for a bit, but still show some symptoms. This is why it is very important to try to inspect your fish often. When you know what healthy gill looks like, it is easier to diagnose a sickness. Early detection and proper medication are keys towards full recovery.
I understand that it is very difficult to see the subtle changes in your fish. But this is very important. An expert or an attentive keeper will be able to tell exactly when their fish starts to act weird. You can usually detect if the fish is getting sick from the changing of the behavior, long before you can diagnose from the symptoms. Just like people, ranchu get groggy and do not want to swim when they are sick. They will also loose their appetite. When the fish loose their appetite (unusual amount of left over food which usually do not occur), it also may be sick. Some ailments (such as white spots which is caused by a viral infection), if and when you see the symptoms (white spots appearing all over), then it's too late. All you can do is flush the whole tub so that you don't spread the disease to your other fish.

Hi Pat,
Greetings to you from S'pore. I have been reading all th epostings here and I must say that it's very informative. Thanks for your sharing...in fact, I'm going to one of the owners of your Kashino bbrs that are going to be brought back into S'pore. ![]() I have a question for you if you don't mind...I have a ranchu that has turned white suddenly...it has lost the red colour on his scales but the scales are all intact. In fact, other than the change in colour, he's acting normally as per before. I've been told that it could either be genetic or it's could be due to poor water quality. I have always stuck to changing the water at least once a week and it's generally a 100% change. Is there anything I can do to get the red colour back? Thanks in adavce and sorry for the posting in the wrong column. Rgds, Ivan |

First of all congratulation on your good fortune to be one of the lucky few who got in on that bulk order, you will be getting excellent fish at a good price. I am in charge of that order, personally. We'll be posting nice pictures for you to see later on this evening (Thursday the 2nd).
The drop in color is a normal occurance that usually happen to fish that change location. If a fish is raised in an atmosphere that's conducive to generating good colours, and all of a sudden it is move to a pond where there are less sunlight and vegetable source, then the colour drop will happen. Most of my fish at home, once they are relocate back to my ponds at the farm, a few will have drastic colour drop. I mean from a red fish to a white fish with only red spots left on the tail. Ranchu changes all the time in accordance with environment they are put in. The colour change is simply another change to cope with the new home. Please rest assure that there's nothing wrong with your fish at all. Colour is the last factor that a judge will look at and condition of the scales are much more important in comparision. If you are really concerned about bringing some of the colours back, I do have a new additive which I have been trying for the past year and found to be good. PM me for further details, ok. Last but not least, please refer to my posting about vegetable for ranchu. It's one of the best way to promote the best scale and colour development. Hope this is helpful. Please do not hesitate to ask more questions if you like. Quote:
