Hi Hameda,

Does the female go into the box? and are her iris whitish or more yellow? Older Greys tend to have deeper yellow colour. My observation is that mature wild-caught males will stand guard on a perch near the outside of the nestbox while the female will often hide in the box, until people go nearer when the male too will go in.

By the way what are you feeding your birds? Food is a trigger for breeding. Birds often go into breeding if they have been on a maintenence diet for a few months and suddenly have more and richer food - mimicking Spring or the rainy season with the promise of abundant food.

Note that Greys handle fatty seeds and nuts better than most birds. In fact in the wild, they raid Oil Palm plantations for their oily fruits which are also rich in Vit A and D. Are you feeding them enough oil-seeds and vitamins like sunflower and carrots? Carrots and fresh corn on the cob is greatly relished by my birds and is a daily staple.

I hope that it was a typo - I meant cuttle-bone from marine cuttlefish (squid or calamari-like animals) and not bones from cattle (cows) what with Canada having a large agriculture industry. Hee! Hee! Alternatively, you can use Sandoz calcium syrup but not the tablet form that has chocolate for dogs!

All the best!

Rupert
